Drivers heading through parts of Cardiff and the surrounding area are being warned to expect delays during Monday afternoon’s rush hour due to congestion on two key routes.

According to Traffic Wales, there is currently congestion on the A4232 northbound between Culverhouse Cross and Junction 33 at Capel Llanilltern. The busy stretch of road, which links the western side of Cardiff with the M4 motorway, is experiencing heavier than usual traffic as commuters make their way home.

Traffic is also building on the A470 northbound near Nantgarw, with congestion reported around the off slip. Delays are possible in the area as traffic volumes increase.

Motorists travelling through the area during the late afternoon and early evening are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and consider alternative routes where possible.

The A4232 and A470 are two of the main commuter routes serving Cardiff and the wider South Wales region, and both regularly experience increased traffic during peak travel periods.
