Drivers in Wales are being warned of congestion and difficult driving conditions this morning (Friday), with delays reported on one of the main routes into Cardiff and high winds affecting travel in North Wales.

According to Traffic Wales, congestion is currently affecting the A470 southbound between Nantgarw and Coryton, with delays possible for commuters heading towards Cardiff during the morning rush hour.

Motorists travelling on the A55 at the Britannia Bridge are also being advised to take extra care due to strong winds. Advisory restrictions remain in place for motorcycles and caravans using the bridge until further notice.

Elsewhere, some routes that were affected by high winds earlier this morning have now reopened.

The A477 Cleddau Bridge had been closed to high sided vehicles due to strong winds, but Traffic Wales has confirmed the route is now clear in both directions.

The M48 Severn Bridge between Junction 1 Aust and Junction 2 Newhouse was also closed earlier because of high winds but has since reopened to traffic.

Drivers are being urged to check weather conditions before travelling and to drive according to the conditions, particularly on exposed bridges and routes where strong winds may still pose a risk.
