Wales is bracing for an unsettled spell of weather this weekend as a deepening area of low pressure approaches from the Atlantic, according to the Met Office.
Forecasters say the system will bring periods of heavy rain and strong winds, with the chance of some localised impacts as it moves across the country. A short settled spell is expected late on Sunday, though conditions will quickly turn wet and windy again on Monday. Rainfall early next week is likely to be heaviest in western areas, with the wider outlook remaining changeable.
Friday will see early brightness replaced by frequent showers, some heavy enough to form longer spells of rain. It should become drier later in the afternoon with a few sunny breaks. It stays windy throughout and will feel a little fresher than Thursday, with top temperatures around 12 C.
Tonight starts off dry with clearer skies, but heavy rain and stronger winds will arrive overnight. Exposed coasts are expected to feel the brunt of the gusts as temperatures fall to about 2 C.
Saturday begins with outbreaks of heavy rain before clearing to sunshine and showers during the afternoon. It stays windy and will turn colder into the night. Highs of 11 C are forecast.
Sunday brings a brighter and drier day, though an early frost is likely. Conditions worsen again on Monday as another round of wet and windy weather moves in. Sunshine and showers follow on Tuesday, with temperatures roughly in line with the seasonal average.
