Wales is set for an unsettled few days, with further spells of rain, low cloud and strong winds according to the latest forecast from the Met Office.

Today will start on a murky note for eastern parts of Wales, where low cloud and drizzle are likely to linger through the morning. Further west, conditions will be brighter, although some fog and icy patches may form early on before clearing fairly quickly. Through the afternoon it will remain mostly cloudy, with occasional showers moving through. There will be some brighter spells at times, especially in the west. Temperatures will reach around 8°C.

Tonight, cloud will thicken from the south during the evening as a band of rain pushes northwards overnight. This rain is expected to be heavy and persistent at times, with winds also strengthening as the night goes on. Despite the cloud and rain, frost patches could still develop in places. Overnight temperatures are expected to dip to around 3°C.

Tuesday looks set to be a dull and damp day across much of Wales. The rain band will continue to move northwards, bringing further heavy downpours and areas of low cloud. Strong winds will persist, particularly along coastal areas and over higher ground. Maximum temperatures will hover around 7°C.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, Wednesday should bring a brighter and drier interlude, although low cloud may develop again overnight into the morning. From Thursday, unsettled conditions return, with further bands of rain moving in and breezy conditions at times. It will also begin to feel chillier as the week goes on.

People are advised to keep an eye on local forecasts, particularly if travelling or spending time outdoors during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.
