FIFA has confirmed that Cymru’s 2022 FIFA World Cup Play-off Semi-Final against Austria in Cardiff on Thursday, 24 March will go ahead as planned.

Ukraine’s request to postpone their play-off semi-final against Scotland on the same evening has been granted by FIFA.

The FAW supports FIFA’s decision in this matter and stands in solidarity with Ukraine and reiterates its condemnation for the use of force and the atrocities being committed by Russia.

If Cymru win against Austria, they will play the winners of the Scotland v Ukraine play-off semi-final at Cardiff City Stadium on a date to be confirmed in June.

FIFA also stated the following: “Alternative fixtures for teams in the March window are being explored by the relevant parties. Similarly, the details of rescheduled fixtures will be announced in due course and the international match calendar window of June will be adapted as necessary for the teams concerned once these details have been finalised.”

The FAW will provide further details in relation to the March and June international windows as and when information becomes available.

If Cymru win against Austria, tickets already purchased for the match on 29 March will remain valid for the Play-off Final, which will be played on a date in the June window to be determined by FIFA in due course.

For those who are unable to attend the rearranged date, a refund request can be made for the face value of the tickets (as per the FAW’s Refund Policy) by emailing [email protected] within 28 days of the announcement of the fixture date determined by FIFA.
