Cardiff’s best-loved comedy club, The Glee Club, has confirmed a four-day run of events to celebrate St David’s Day.

The Cardiff Bay venue, which has been an institution in the city since it was founded in 2001, has booked an all Welsh line-up for its Thursday, Friday and Saturday night shows, along with a special family-friendly show for St David’s Day itself.

Glee Club favourites, Jenny Collier, Mike Bubbins and Robin Morgan will be joined by Sheep and Mash for Thursday night’s Pie Face Comedy, offering the best in Welsh inspired comedy and pies.

Comedian and broadcaster, Tudur Owen joins the bill on Friday and Saturday. While Sraha Breese Jeff Japers and Robin Morgan will head the line-up for the Glee Family Comedy Show on St David’s Day itself.

It’s hoped that the St David’s Day event which starts at 12.30pm and is aimed at families with kids aged from seven to 11, will help inspire the next generation of Welsh comedians.

James Allen, manager of the Glee Club in Cardiff, said: “Wales has some of the finest comedians in the world, with acts like Jenny Collier and Robin Morgan regularly touring throughout the UK and abroad. With it being St David’s Day, we thought what better time to bring them all together and host a Welsh extravaganza.

“Since opening our doors, just under 20 years ago, we’ve been proud to support Welsh comics. With our special St David’s Day event we’re hoping to introduce young people to the joys of live comedy and help parents get out and about without the need for a babysitter.”

The Glee Club’s St David’s Day comedy extravaganza will take place between Thursday 27 February and Sunday 1 March.
