Welsh aluminium fabricator, Dudley’s Aluminium, has begun work on a new project with Vinci Construction Ltd to construct the new student accommodation for Bath University.

The new student accommodation – named Polden Corner – will be located on the western side of Bath University’s main campus. The £34.5m development will have 293 en-suite bedrooms in 37 flats across two buildings, arranged around a landscaped courtyard. The accommodation building will also include a café, communal study spaces, drying rooms and cycle storage.

Dudley’s secured the contract with Vinci Construction Ltd, in excess of half a million pounds, and will install high quality Kawneer curtain walling, and windows and doors, as well as state-of-the-art sliding/patio doors through the new student accommodation. The estimated completion is Autumn 2018.

Speaking about the new project, Colin Shorney, Managing Director of Dudley’s said: “We are delighted to be working on this project with Vinci Construction Ltd for Bath University. It continues our already extensive commitment to working within the education sector and help support the needs of student.”

Polden Corner is the second student accommodation project Dudley’s has secured in the last six months, having secured the contract to work with ISG Plc on a new student accommodation in Cardiff’s Capital Quarter – a project worth in excess of £1million.

Dudley’s reputation for quality has been recognised with several industry-related accreditations. The company is CHAS and Achilles accredited, Constructionline registered and certified to manufacture “Secured by Design” products.

Established in 1993, Dudley’s Aluminium offers clients full in-house design and production facilities, and has completed many successful and prestigious education, health, commercial, retail and defence sector projects throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
