A celebrated fusion of jazz and Welsh literary heritage arrives at The Riverfront Theatre next week as Ad/Lib Cymru proudly presents Stan Tracey’s Under Milk Wood Jazz Suite on Thursday 21 May at 7.30pm.

Widely regarded as one of the great British jazz works, Stan Tracey’s Under Milk Wood is considered the pianist-composer’s defining masterpiece. Inspired by Dylan Thomas’s iconic radio play, the suite captures the surreal, lyrical and humorous spirit of Thomas’s world through bold, modern jazz compositions.

Performed by the DT Jazz Ensemble alongside acclaimed Welsh personalities Siân Lloyd and Ieuan Rhys, the evening promises a rich blend of music, storytelling and performance.

Siân Lloyd, one of Wales’s most recognisable broadcasters, joins the production following a distinguished 24-year career as ITV Weather’s longest-serving female weather presenter. Beyond broadcasting, she has written for national newspapers including The Times and The Mail on Sunday and appeared on programmes such as I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity First Dates.

Welsh actor Ieuan Rhys is best known for his long-running role as Sergeant Glyn James in Pobol y Cwm. His extensive stage and screen career includes appearances in Doctor Who, Stella and The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain, alongside work with National Theatre Wales and the National Theatre in London.

Whether audiences are lovers of jazz, Dylan Thomas, or both, this promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating two towering figures of British cultural life.
