Trick-or-treaters and Halloween eventgoers in Wales may need to keep their umbrellas close this weekend, with the Met Office forecasting an unsettled few days ahead.

After a chilly but calm start to Thursday, skies will soon turn grey as cloud builds across the country. Rain is expected to move in from late morning, and winds will begin to strengthen through the afternoon. Temperatures will sit close to the late-October average, reaching around 13°C.

As night falls, conditions are set to worsen, with coastal gales developing and a heavier band of rain sweeping across Wales. Clear spells will return overnight, but it will remain blustery with scattered showers. Temperatures are expected to stay mild, not dropping below 10°C.

Friday looks to bring a mix of sunshine and showers, some of which could turn heavy and even include hail. Gusty winds will continue throughout the day, though it will feel relatively mild in sheltered spots, with highs of around 15°C.

Looking to the weekend, the unsettled theme continues. Saturday and Monday are expected to stay windy with frequent showers, while Sunday could bring a brief break from the wet weather. The Met Office suggests Sunday may be the driest day of the period, with more sunshine on offer, though the odd shower remains possible.

So, whether you’re heading out for Halloween parties or taking the kids trick-or-treating, it might be wise to plan for a few downpours and keep those costumes weatherproof.
