The NFL Draft is one of the most anticipated events on the North American sporting calendar. It is where franchises take their first steps toward building future success. As we edge closer to the 2025 edition, the excitement is already palpable, with scouts and fans buzzing about the emerging talents.

This year’s draft class promises a mix of explosive playmakers, defensive powerhouses, and franchise-altering quarterbacks poised to make their mark on the league and help make their respective future sides more favourable to those looking for an NFL bet.

In this article, we’ll examine the most talked-about prospects, their college careers, standout attributes, and the potential impact they could bring to the next level of the game.

That said, here’s a closer look at the players destined to dominate draft day in 2025.

Cameron Ward – Quarterback

It’s rare for the first overall pick of the draft not to be a quarterback, with just two franchises opting to strengthen their roster elsewhere in the last 10 editions, and it’s unlikely the Tennessee Titans are going to buck that trend this year with Cam Ward on offer.

The 22-year-old lit up Miami last year, throwing 4,313 yards for 39 touchdowns. However, he sparked controversy when opting to sit out of the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl, which the Hurricanes lost to Iowa State despite Ward throwing three touchdowns in the two quarters.

Shedeur Sanders – Quarterback

While he’s considered the second-best quarterback prospect in the 2025 draft class, Shedeur Sanders might have to wait until the sixth pick before his name is called in Green Bay, Minnesota, in April as the Las Vegas Raiders dropped down the pecking order with a couple of late wins.

Indeed, other franchises ahead of the Raiders could swoop him up before that. However, it seems likely that the 22-year-old will get his wish of playing in Silver and Black next season. Sanders threw 4,134 yards for 37 touchdowns for Colorado in 2024.

Travis Hunter – Wide receiver/cornerback

Travis Hunter could potentially be one of the most unique and dynamic players to enter the NFL in its storied history. The Colorado star can play wide receiver and cornerback on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

The 21-year-old was a top target for Sanders, making 92 receptions for 1,152 and 14 touchdowns last season while also making 21 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, and four interceptions on the other side of the ball. Given his versatility, he won’t last long in the draft and could go to the New York Giants at third.

Abdul Carter – Edge

Abdul Carter is currently being projected in some mock drafts to be picked up by the Cleveland Browns in second, as the Huntington Bank Field franchise could look to strengthen their defence alongside 2017 first pick Myles Garret.

The defensive end was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year as Penn State lost the 2025 Orange Bowl, making 68 combined tackles, 43 solo and 25 assisted as well as 12 sacks across the course of the season.
