Why Flight Club Cardiff should be your next summer night out

If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a few drinks in Cardiff this summer, Flight Club has just made the decision a little easier.

The popular social darts venue has launched a brand new seasonal cocktail menu to accompany what is, in our opinion, one of the city’s best rooftop terraces.

We visited Flight Club back in May to check out its newly refreshed summer terrace and were reminded just how much of a hidden gem it is. Tucked away above the city streets, it feels like a secret garden, filled with colourful flowers, festoon lighting and cosy corners that make it very easy to settle in for the afternoon… and even easier to stay for “just one more drink”.

While Flight Club is best known for its Social Darts experience, don’t overlook it if you’re simply after drinks and a bite to eat. The terrace has a relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for catching up with friends, after work drinks or making the most of a sunny evening.

The new Flight Club in Bloom cocktail menu has been designed with summer in mind, featuring five seasonal creations alongside the venue’s existing drinks selection.

We worked our way through the menu, and there were some clear favourites.

The Main Parade was our top pick. Made with Mermaid Zest and Stonewall Gin, lemon, vanilla and finished with a Crème de Mûre float, it offered a great balance of flavours and reminded us a little of a Long Island Iced Tea. It’s the sort of cocktail that would suit almost anyone.

For those who love sweeter drinks, Peach Perfect combines Patrón Silver, peach, St-Germain and Peach Red Bull for exactly what the name promises.

The Bourbon Spritz offers a slightly different option, mixing Maker’s Mark bourbon with Aperol, lemon and Prosecco for a refreshing twist on a classic spritz.

One of the biggest surprises was the Rhubarb Refresher. Despite being completely alcohol free, it was one of our favourite drinks of the afternoon. Made with Seedlip Garden 108, lemon, grenadine and Franklin & Sons Rhubarb Lemonade, it’s incredibly refreshing and exactly the sort of drink you want on a warm summer’s day.

    Caramelita

The final addition to the menu is the Caramelita, which blends Patrón Silver, Licor 43, lime and caramel, finished with a salted rim. Make sure you catch a little of the salt with each sip, as it really brings the flavours together.

Of course, no visit to Flight Club would be complete without stepping up to the oche. Social Darts remains one of the most entertaining group activities in Cardiff, with a range of interactive games that make it enjoyable whether you’re competitive or just there for a laugh. On warmer days, the air conditioning inside also provides a welcome break from the heat before heading back onto the terrace.

Whether you’re planning a summer social, date night or simply looking for somewhere different to enjoy a drink in Cardiff city centre, Flight Club offers a winning combination of atmosphere, good cocktails and plenty of entertainment.

Our advice? Go for the drinks, stay for the darts and don’t forget to spend some time on that rooftop terrace. It’s one of Cardiff’s best kept summer spots.

You can book a table on the rooftop terrace and find out more here.
