If you’ve been out on the road in Wales a lot recently, then you’ve probably noticed an increase in the number of cars sporting private number plates.

A private or personalised plate is a great way to make your car more unique to you, and hide its age while showing off your individuality and unique personality. You can choose from a wide range of different number plate styles and design your plate to include details such as your first name, surname, nickname, initials, business name, career, children’s initials, a word that means something to you, and much more. Recently, private number plates have been booming in popularity, and there are many good reasons why. Here are just a few…

    #1. They’re a Good Investment

Are you considering making an investment in something but aren’t sure what? Maybe you want to buy something that you’re likely going to be able to sell on in the future for more, but don’t have the funds available to invest in property or something else that’s usually majorly expensive. A private number plate can be a great investment idea – especially if you manage to get your hands on a highly sought-after option, such as a popular name or surname, or a dateless plate that includes the number one. These plates are always going to be in demand, so you can be sure that they won’t lose their value over time.

    #2. They’re More Accessible

In the past, private number plates were favoured by the rich and famous – because mainly, those where the only people who could afford to get one. However, today it’s easier and cheaper than ever for anybody to get their hands on this unique and personalised accessory for their car. You can find affordable personalised number plates at Number1Plates with something to suit everybody’s budget – the amount you’ll pay will often depend on a number of factors such as the personalisation level and the demand for the plate itself. You can often save money by personalising a small part of your registration plate – for example, if you just want a three-letter nickname, you can personalise the suffix part of your plate and keep the prefix the same. And with many private registration companies offering 0% finance options, you can now spread the cost out if you do want to invest in a more expensive plate.

    #3. They’re a Status Symbol

When you’re on the road today, sometimes simply having a flashy car itself isn’t enough – many drivers are turning to private number plates as a status symbol, especially if they have a well-paying job. And why shouldn’t you show off a little bit and enjoy the money that you’ve worked so hard for? It’s not uncommon to see drivers with high-paying careers using words like ‘DOC’ or ‘VET’ in their number plates – not only does this show others that you’ve worked hard and your success is paying off, but it can also be a fun and unique way to let everyone know that you’re working in your dream career.

#4. Make Your Car Stand Out

If you’ve got a nice car but it doesn’t really stand out from the crowd all that much, then a private number plate can be a great way to add that little bit of individuality and the ‘wow’ factor to your vehicle. Even if you’ve got a car make and model that’s fairly popular on the road today, a personalised number plate will set your car apart from the rest in a crowd – and on the practical side, it’ll be easier for you to find it in a busy car park. And, that’s not the only practical use that your private number plate can have! If you’ve ever had to run outside to check your number plate when asked to give your registration number, then this will become a thing of the past as you’re unlikely to forget a unique one that you’ve come up with yourself.

    #5. Have Some Fun!

Last but not least, many people today are opting for private number plates simply because they are fun to have. You can really get creative with your private number plate and come up with a string of letters and numbers that celebrates your individual side, puts smiles on faces, or means something that is personal and unique to you. The options are endless, whether you want something sentimental like your child’s initials or want to keep it personal with your name, birthday or job. Or you could use a word that you know is going to make your family and friends laugh like a nickname or an inside joke that other drivers probably won’t get – but your social circle will. The choice is yours!

If you’re wondering why there seem to be so many private plates these days, these are just some of the reasons! Why not invest in your own?
