Big Banquet has announced the full trader line-up for its return to Caldicot Castle, starting with the late May Bank Holiday weekend.

For the two half-term weekends of 24 May – 27 May and 31 May – 2 June, Big Banquet will be bringing its unique mix of gravity-defying high wire acts, family circus fun and the best street food that Wales has to offer.

Throughout the day, one of the UK’s best known aerial acts, Chris Bullzini, will be performing on his custom-built high wire rig eight metres above the crowds below. In the evenings, Big Banquet After Dark brings the castle alive with a fire show finale from the Pembrokeshire Fire Spinners, guest DJs and a more grown up festival atmosphere.

Traders this year include a mix of familiar Street Food Circus favourites alongside new arrivals like Hills Burgers from Brecon, Packed Sarnies bringing epic Chicago-style Italian sandwiches and Son of a Bun’s Korean fried chicken.

Rotating across the two weekends will be:

    • Ceylon & Beyond – Sri Lankan street food
    • Fire & Flank – sous vide flank steak with cheesy garlic mash
    • Hill’s Burgers – multi-award winners, using some of the best producers in Wales
    • Jerk Yard – authentic Jerk chicken and curried goat
    • Keralan Karavan – unique jazzed up Southern Indian kitchen
    • Packed Sarnies – Chicago-style Italian beef sandwiches, dripping in gravy
    • Piddaji – freshly baked Pide, Turkish boat-shaped filled flatbreads
    • Roti Shack – bringing the fragrant flavours of Malaysian market kitchens
    • Sin Nombre – fresh tacos, fresh flavours and fresh ingredients
    • Son of a Bun – the Seoul fried chicken bun
    • Straight Outta Canton – famous Punjabi BBQ
    • Taco Taco Taco – new Welsh start-up bringing authentic quality tacos
    • Two Lads Kitchen – authentic Afghan street food
    • Wild Pizza – hand-stretched, wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza
    • Wok n Roll – fusion street food, rice bowls and Vietnamese banh mi

    And for dessert:

    • Church of Churros – buckets of churros and Spanish chocolate sauce
    • Minto’s Desserts – patisserie from the Bake off The Professionals winner
    • Pwdin – classic puddings like warm Belgian chocolate brownie
    • Rebel Crumble – a boozy twist on the traditional crumble

The Street Food Circus team has worked with independent drinks producers to curate a bar offer that matches the food line-up’s local and sustainable ethos. That includes partnering with Newport’s Tiny Rebel for beers (including non-alcoholic) on the main bar and local and sustainable spirits from Welsh rum Barti-Du, gin and vodka from B Corp the East London Liquor Co, Fairtrade liquors from Fair and El Sueno sustainable tequila.

Soft drinks include a new Street Food Circus branded hibiscus lemonade with 10p from every sale donated to support the Flying Seagull Project, a charity which sends clowns, musicians and entertainers to create safe environments for play and laughter in challenging and desperate situations, in the UK and around the world.

Street Food Circus ringmaster and founder, Matt ‘the Hat’ said:

“We’re excited to bring back some Big Banquet favourites from last year alongside a great line-up of exciting new cooks joining the circus this year. We always try to have that mix of familiar faces with the opportunity for people to try new cuisines, new chefs or restaurants that they may not yet have had the chance to visit.

“Alongside the food, we’ve put together a great circus show for Big Banquet again this year, with lots to keep families entertained including a free circus school, live DJ sets, and a fantastic fire show finale every evening. And the star of the show – Chris Bullzini – will be back to wow the crowds with an act that has to be seen to be believed,” he said.

Big Banquet tickets are £5 for adults and free for children under 16 and are on sale now at streetfoodcircus.co.uk.
