Budding entrepreneurs Martin Panek and Mike Gajewski from Port Talbot, have launched PG Heights, a window cleaning service that operates in the local community

The two, who had been colleagues at a well-known Pizza takeaway, have not looked back since they started their new business in Autumn 2019, and are considering expansion.

The firm received a £500 grant from the Kickstart programme, run jointly by Tata Steel subsidiary UKSE and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.  The grant was used to buy specialist equipment for cleaning guttering, the Sky Vac.

“We are very pleased with the support we have received in establishing the business, and in helping us to become self-employed,” said Martin.

“We have a growing list of customers in the Neath Port Talbot area and the business is developing steadily,” he added.

The plan now is to take on commercial contracts. “We have all the equipment needed, and all are fully covered by the appropriate insurances for this type of work,” he added.

“We are carefully following all the guidance that has been given by the Welsh Government when we provide our service.”

As well as traditional window cleaning, PG Heights offers gutter cleaning and clearing, as well as pressure washing.

Glyn Thomas Manager in Wales for UKSE said: “We are very pleased to work alongside Neath Port Talbot Council encouraging new enterprises such as PG Heights. This new business will hopefully grow and create jobs for local people, while providing an important local service.”
