Visitors to the Park & Dare Theatre are being advised of temporary changes to access arrangements while improvement works are carried out at the venue.

Scaffolding has been installed at the front of the building as part of work to ensure the much-loved community theatre remains in good condition for the future.

The project began on Monday, August 10, and is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete.

The improvements form part of the ongoing TransformingRCT investment programme, which aims to maintain and improve community venues across Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Temporary access arrangements will remain in place throughout the work. When drilling is taking place, visitors will not be able to enter the theatre through the Dyfodwg Street entrance.

Access from Dyfodwg Street will be available during performance times only. At all other times, visitors will need to enter and leave the theatre via Station Road.

Directional signs will be installed to help people navigate the site safely and easily.

Councillor Scott Emanuel, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Leisure said: “The Park & Dare Theatre is a much-loved community venue with a long and proud history at the heart of the Rhondda, and this work will improve the venue so that it can continue to welcome audiences, performers and community groups for many years to come.

“These improvement works are part of the wider ‘TransformingRCT’ investment programme, which is maintaining and improving existing facilities across the County Borough, while also building brand new schools and infrastructure.

“We appreciate that the temporary access arrangements may cause some inconvenience, and I would like to thank residents, visitors and theatre users for their patience and understanding while these important works are carried out.”
