Major road improvements are underway in Bridgend county borough as part of a £2.7m investment into the local highway network.

Work on 40 local roads is being carried out with resurfacing works having already been completed on:

    Gordon Avenue/Highfield Avenue, Porthcawl
    West Road, Porthcawl
    Carlton Place, Porthcawl
    Cheltenham Road, Nottage
    North Street, Caerau,
    Fron Heulog, Cefn Glas
    Coegnant Close, Brackla Industrial Estate

Next week work is due to start on the A4063 Maesteg Road in Tondu with preparatory works planned first and then resurfacing getting underway at the start of July.

Over the next few weeks, resurfacing works will also be carried out on the following roads:

    Haul Bryn/Dan Y Bryn/Blandy Terrace, Nantymoel
Brackla Way (from Church Acre to Hunters Ridge)
    Cae Bach, Llangeinor
    A4064 Oxford Street, Pontycymmer

Meanwhile, preparatory works for surface treatment which helps to preserve and extend the life of roads is currently taking place on A4064 Llangeinor and Greenmeadow Lane in Shwt.

Further repairs and resurfacing works elsewhere in the county borough are planned for later in the year.

These road works are part of a wider investment of millions of pounds into the highway network, helping to make improvements in communities across the county borough.

With various schemes taking place over the coming weeks and months, it is inevitable there will be some disruption and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Please rest assured, every effort is made to minimise disruption with major roadworks being undertaken outside of rush hour but we do ask drivers for their understanding and patience while work is ongoing.

Bridgend County Borough Council’s cabinet member for communities Councillor Stuart Baldwin
