Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has been instructed to market The Lemon Tree hotel and restaurant on Rhosddu Road in Wrexham city centre.
The Lemon Tree is an 18-bedroom hotel and 70-cover restaurant known for serving high-quality modern British food. The hotel is a popular choice for visitors to the area, with accommodation occupancy exceeding 91% in 2024 and consistently being voted as the number one hotel in Wrexham on TripAdvisor. The venue has also received the AA Rosette Award for its restaurant for the last six years, and the AA 3 Star Gold Award for its accommodation, placing it in the top 100 in its category.
The Lemon Tree is housed within a historic Grade II listed building dating back to the 1860s, which was converted into a hotel in 1982, then refurbished and renamed The Lemon Tree in 2010. Current owner Sam Regan has made strategic investments over the past ten years, including a significant expansion in 2020 to increase the room total to18, meaning the property is presented in turnkey condition ready for a new owner to capitalise on its success.
Having owned the hotel since 2014, Sam has decided the time is right for a new operator to take the reins. He commented, “When I took over The Lemon Tree just over a decade ago, my goal was to establish a truly exceptional, independent hospitality venue at the heart of Wrexham. Having achieved high occupancy levels, completing our major expansion in 2020, and developing a strong positive reputation, I believe I have taken this Grade II listed landmark to an exceptional level of success under my ownership. I am immensely proud of my team and the legacy we leave, and I look forward to seeing The Lemon Tree continue to thrive as a key pillar in Wrexham’s exciting future.”
The sale is being managed by James Dodd and Chad Jackson at Christie & Co, who commented, “The Lemon Tree represents a rare opportunity to acquire a thriving hospitality business in the heart of the city. The combination of a historic listed building with modern extensions creates a unique offering that appeals to both leisure and business guests. With Wrexham’s ongoing regeneration and growing profile, we expect strong interest from operators looking to capitalise on this exciting market.”
The hotel freehold is on the market with an asking price of £1,350,000.
