Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet has approved an updated Capital Strategy and Capital Programme for 2026/27 to 2028/29, setting out the next phase of investment in infrastructure, services and regeneration across the county borough.
The council said the programme shows a long-term commitment to supporting communities through financial planning and capital investment. Funding in the next phase will go towards maintaining and improving key buildings, delivering regeneration projects, and keeping essential public assets fit for purpose.
The updated capital programme for 2026/27 stands at £180.760m. The council said this reflects successful bids for external funding and its record in securing investment for local regeneration and infrastructure. It also said projects are tracking ahead of schedule.
Councillor Simon Knoyle, Cabinet Member for Finance, Performance and Social Justice, said: “This Capital Programme demonstrates our clear commitment to investing in Neath Port Talbot’s future. As we move into the next phase of the programme, we are delivering the largest capital investment ever made in our county borough, helping to modernise infrastructure, strengthen essential services and drive regeneration in communities across Neath Port Talbot. This investment will ensure residents benefit from safe, sustainable and high-quality facilities for generations to come.
“At a time of continued financial pressures, we remain focused on responsible long-term financial planning that delivers real value for our communities. By targeting investment where it will have the greatest impact, we are supporting economic growth, improving public services and creating opportunities that will enhance quality of life across the county borough.”
