One of the UK’s fastest growing businesses has today confirmed it has committed its long-term future to Wrexham. Online retailer Net World Sports has been based on Wrexham Industrial Estate since 2014 and work has now begun on a new £25M warehouse and office that will be located just 1 mile away from their current site.

The new 411,000 sq ft base which is due to be completed by mid-summer next year will serve as the company’s long-term home and will create a significant number of new jobs for local people across a range of different departments.

The new warehouse and office was designed by C4 Projects and is being built by Portal Construction NW who are based in Tarporley. Net World Sports staff were encouraged to give their input on what they’d like the new site to include, and the current plans feature a bar, gym, onsite canteen, treatment rooms, football pitch, tennis court and running track, with more exciting additions still being discussed.

The new site will create a wide range of exciting new job opportunities for local people across various different sectors and disciplines as the business continues to expand. Roles/departments that the company will be recruiting for include Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Development, Logistics, Content, Graduates and Warehouse.

The move will mean that Net World Sports’ current base on Bryn Lane will be freed up for rent from mid-summer next year. The 130,00 sq ft site is likely to be in high demand with both local and national businesses due to the current shortage in warehouse space that is an issue not just in North Wales but nationally.

Alex Lovén, Founder and Managing Director at Net World Sports comments “We’re a business that is built by the people of Wrexham for the people of Wrexham, so we’re delighted to be committing our long-term future to the town. We’re hugely excited by the prospect of delivering such a fantastic working environment for our staff and we’re sure that the new site will help us attract even more local talent whilst also leaving us better placed to achieve our ambitious growth targets”.

Jon Pochin, Construction Manager at Portal Construction NW comments “We’ve been aware of Net World Sports as business for a number of years and we were delighted to be invited to have a conversation with Alex and the team last year to discuss the potential build. The scale of the project exceeds anything we’ve taken on before but we’re hugely excited by the opportunity and we’re already making good progress”.
