Care workers from across Denbighshire County Council have taken on their very own three peaks challenge.

A total of 12 staff walked three of the toughest walks in Denbighshire, Gwaenysgor, Moel Famau and Castell Dinas Bran in Llangollen on September 25, with the peaks having a total height of 3,473 feet.

The walk, which took eight hours, also highlighted and celebrated the role of care workers in Denbighshire, supporting the WeCare Wales campaign run by Social Care Wales.

More than £950 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Katie Newe, Service Manager responsible for care homes and domiciliary care provision within Denbighshire County Council, said: “This was a fantastic achievement by everyone who took part.

“I am so pleased we managed to complete this challenge. There were three challenging walks and 12 determined people and we raised lots of money for a great charity as well as celebrating the amazing work that care workers do every single day.

“I am very proud to be part of this awesome team and I would like to thank everyone who donated.”

The group included staff from different roles across Denbighshire County Council including, care and support workers, health and social care workers, an occupational therapist, seniors and managers.

Cllr Bobby Feeley, the Council’s Lead Member for Well-being and Independence, said: “I would like to congratulate staff who took part in this challenge.

“Our care staff have gone above and beyond during the pandemic, always looking to provide the very best care with a smile.

“Raising awareness of the hugely important work they do and supporting charity is a great way to thank care staff for their extraordinary efforts.”
