Vale of Glamorgan town centres will be fa-boo-lously transformed this half term to celebrate Halloween.
With the aim of getting families back on to the high streets to enjoy all that local traders have to offer following the COVID19 pandemic, the Council is hosting Halloween themed events across Barry, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Penarth in a bid to drive footfall into the town centres.
Each town centre will have a host of spooktacular events for visitors to take part in, including Halloween trails, face painting, pumpkin carving, a lantern parade, High Street Trick or Treats, and much more!
A number of traders in Barry, Cowbridge and Llantwit Major are taking part in a ‘spooktacular’ window display competition, where the public get to vote for their favourite.
There will also be a Halloween installation in Llantwit Major, Cowbridge, and Penarth providing a focal point and photo opportunity for an online social media campaign #SpooktacularVTC.
Nia Hollins, Principal Tourism and Marketing Officer at Vale of Glamorgan Council, said:
“We’re delighted to host the Spooktacular Vale Town Council events in our four town centres this Halloween.
“Our events programme has looked a little different this year, moving away from events that attract huge crowds, instead focussing on safe, community-based events, that support the economy of our Town Centres.
“This Halloween we are aiming to encourage residents and visitors to visit and explore what our high streets have to offer during half term and to give our local traders a boost after a tough year.
“We’re grateful for the support of local traders, chambers of trade and town councils who have got behind this event and we’re excited to see their spooky offerings.
“Following on from our Festival of Flowers event earlier in the year which was a huge success, we are hoping this next event will further help in the effort to help traders rebuild following the COVID19 pandemic.”
The event, which is funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, will take place in Cowbridge, Llantwit Major, Penarth and Barry and run from Saturday 23rd October to Sunday 31st October.
