Inspire Wales and BeTheSpark officially open applications for their first Pitch It event held in Wales, taking place on Thursday 17th October at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff.

This event captures BeTheSpark’s vision in action as it will attract people and organisations from across three of BeTheSpark’s five stakeholder groups – academia, risk capital and entrepreneurs.

Pitch It was pioneered by Inspire Wales who recognised there was a gap in the market for entrepreneurs raising seed rounds of investment ranging from £10k-£50k.

“Inspire Wales are aiming to make the investment landscape more accessible to SME’s. Innovation-driven entrepreneurship is at the heart of our fund and Pitch It is a unique and exciting way we can support SME’s to increase their pace of growth within Wales. We are thrilled to be leading the way with this event and in doing so we can continue to foster BeTheSpark’s vision of creating a more visible, simple and connected entrepreneurial ecosystem within Wales for everyone. We hope this event will be the first of many” explained Matt Wakerley, Fund Manager, Inspire Wales.

Inspire Wales is an investment consortium which aims to give financial and mentoring help to exciting and ambitious start-ups and established businesses.

This one of a kind event will offer five of Wales’ most innovative entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business to an esteemed panel of judges made up of Wales’ top business leaders offering not only a cash injection but advice and expertise.

Each entrepreneur will be allocated ten minutes to pitch followed by a live panel Q&A. After deliberation the panel of investors will give expert feedback and deliver a live decision on investment.

Steve Aicheler, Entrepreneurship Engagement Manager, Cardiff Metropolitan University added:

“Cardiff Met are pleased to be involved with and host the ‘Pitch It’ event at our Llandaff campus. This is the first event of its kind to be held in Wales and offers a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to gain investment from top business leaders on the spot. Cardiff Met actively supports and encourages innovation and entrepreneurship through our dedicated Centre for Entrepreneurship.

“A team of specialist advisors is on hand to offer one-to-one support and mentoring for students and graduates who are interested in starting a business. We run a wide range of activities throughout the year and attempt to guide individuals through the various stages of business planning and funding options for new start-up businesses.”

Has your pitch got the potential? Submit your application by sending your business one pager to [email protected] by 10th September.
