One of Wales’ oldest and most celebrated events will return this September, bringing five days of entertainment, stalls and fairground rides to Neath.
Now in its 746th year, Neath Great Fair is recognised as one of the oldest and most prestigious chartered fairs in Wales and Europe.
The street fair will take over Neath town centre from Wednesday 9 September until Saturday 12 September, while the funfair will run at Milland Road car park from Wednesday 9 September until Sunday 13 September.
Visitors will be able to explore a wide range of stalls selling clothing, crafts, accessories, homeware and mystery parcels.
Food and drink will also be available throughout the event, including traditional hog roasts, Mexican cuisine, freshly made churros and brownies.
For the first time, this year’s programme will include a working miniature fairground exhibition at Neath Library on Saturday 12 September.
The detailed models will feature realistic lighting and movement, offering visitors a close-up look at the craftsmanship behind miniature fairground rides.
Supported by The Showmen’s Guild, the exhibition will also include a collection of classic fairground memorabilia. It is expected to appeal to families, enthusiasts, photographers and people interested in fairground heritage.
Visitors can also learn more about the event’s history through a separate exhibition at Neath Library.
Running from Tuesday 25 August until Saturday 12 September, the display will explore the fair’s 700-year history, including how the tradition began and developed into the event seen today.
Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Nature, Tourism and Wellbeing, Cllr Cen Phillips said:

Street fair stalls will open from 9am until 10pm between Wednesday and Saturday.
Funfair rides will operate from 6pm until 10pm on Wednesday and Thursday, from 4pm until 10pm on Friday and from noon until 8pm on Saturday and Sunday.
