A new development by Pobl Group in Penyrheol, Swansea, will result in the creation of an environmentally friendly and vibrant community, thanks to ambitious and innovative plans devised in partnership with the project’s contractor, J.G. Hale Construction.

The new homes will provide much needed social housing for the local area, as well as a substantial new public open green/play space.

The development, which is due to commence this summer, will comprise of 44 dwellings in total, consisting of 6 one-bedroom flats, 18 two-bedroom houses, 18 three-bedroom houses, and 2 four-bedroom houses.

In keeping with Pobl Group’s commitment to placemaking, the site will also feature many aspects designed to enhance the local environment.

The site’s new green space will focus on utilising the natural surroundings for outdoor activity. It will incorporate children’s play equipment – such as an inclusive swing, double slide, wooden play equipment and boulders – to create an inviting multi-level experience for all users.

Rain gardens will also be created alongside the main road route of the site, with associated tree planting, creating a pleasant green streetscape for residents.

Planting at the front of the housing plots will include low maintenance species known to be of benefit to pollinators, which, it is hoped, will encourage biodiversity of wild natural flora and fauna in the area.

Contractor J.G. Hale Construction is widely recognised for its commitment to innovative, eco-friendly design, quality materials and finishes, and sustainable building practices. The company is committed to using local sub-contractors and suppliers whenever possible.

Claire Tristham, Director of Development – West at Pobl Group, said:

“We’re delighted to be working with J.G. Hale Construction on this exciting new development and supporting the local supply chain. This development is an example of Pobl’s commitment to building affordable homes and creating great places where people want to live, and we look forward to welcoming new residents to the completed homes next year.”

David Harrhy, Managing Director, J.G. Hale Construction, added:

“After the delivery of many successful developments together, we’re pleased to be collaborating with Pobl Group again, to deliver 44 new homes at Pencefnarda.

“This exciting project provides a fantastic opportunity to enhance the local economy, by not just the delivery of much needed housing, but the ability to support locally sourced targeted recruitment and training opportunities.”
