Years of lockdown has affected the construction industry significantly, despite many restrictions in place the industry has been at the forefront of the economic recovery supporting the economy with the highest activity levels recorded for the past seven years.

Increasing demand for building materials has strained the availability of several highly desired materials where some experiencing significant inflation like never before.  Builders faced a real challenge getting materials, especially bricks, blocks, timber, and roofing tiles. Builders’ merchants were working hard to stay ahead and make sure they can supply their loyal customers with the building materials they need.

Brexit was one of the additional issues that affected globally building supplies shortage where the companies face a challenge of employing EU workers. Covid resulted in many EU nationals returning home and the majority never came back.

Despite increasing prices on building materials, the number of building projects increased creating demand and the staff shortage resulted in a decrease in the production process. Creating a gap between demand and the ability to produce desired quantity. The industry is predicted to bounce back soon to its full capacity.

Russian Military invasion of Ukraine will result in a significant impact on global trade of not only building supplies near me but on almost everything. The likely shortage will affect the following materials: copper, oil, bitumen, and aluminium to name a few.

Increased prices are predominantly affected by raw materials shortage rising energy tariffs, labour costs this impacts all builder’s merchant’s industry where building supplies near me is not relevant since many builders are faced with a challenge in building materials

The factories are struggling to reach their full capacity producing raw materials also there is now a lot of uncertainty around the Russian military invasion in Ukraine and therefore it is still not clear when the replenishment supply and when the production maximum will be reached.

Building materials stores are trying extremely hard to stay on top of things making sure that their stock levels are at the optimal level and the prices are honest and fair. One of the reliable and trusted builders merchant London is MGM Builders Merchants with branches in Woodford and Romford they manage to supply trade and local DIY customers.
