Wales rugby fans and bus users in Cardiff are being urged to plan their journeys ahead of time as the Autumn Internationals return to the city this weekend.

Customers are being reminded by Cardiff Bus of diversions and road closures which are set to come into force on Saturday 5 November from 11:15 until 19:15 as Wales take on New Zealand at the Principality Stadium.

These diversions will also apply on Saturday 12 November from 13:30 to 21:30, Saturday 19 November from 09:00 to 17:00, and Saturday 26 November from 11:15 to 19:15.

Services running through Cardiff city centre will be affected, and cross city routes will be split.

Services 1 and 2 and 7 will start and end at Canal Street, and the Baycar (service 6) will start and end at Customhouse Street JG.

    Services 4, 13, 15, 17, 18, 25, 32, 61, 62, 63, 64, 66, 92, 94, 95, 96 and 96A will start and end at Fitzhamon Embankment.

Services 8, 9 and X45 towards Cardiff Bay and the Sports Village will start and end at Hayes Bridge Road.

    Services 8 and 9 to the Heath Hospital, 11, 44, 45, 49, 50, 52, 57 and 58 will start and end at Churchill Way.

Services 21, 23, 24 will start from Greyfriars Road GN (south side), service 35 will start and end at Greyfriars Road GG, and services 51 and 53 will continue to start and end at Greyfriars Road GK.

Services 27, 28, 28A, 28B & 30 will start from a temporary bus stop on Kingsway, opposite Friary Gardens.

In addition to these changes, St Mary Street will not re-open to traffic following the matches on the 5th, 12th and 26th November and buses will follow their Saturday night diversions from the end of the of the event closure time.

On match days the Park & Ride East at Pentwyn will be available for shoppers and leisure visits into the city centre, however, it will not be available for event travel and the last bus from the city centre will be at 18:15.

Gareth Stevens, Commercial Director at Cardiff Bus said: “To accommodate road closures and to ensure travel can continue without too much disruption, we will be following our match day diversions.  Our website and app have been updated to reflect the bus stop changes.

“We would advise all our customers to check these route and bus stop changes before travelling on match days to ensure they are fully informed on the diversions in place.”
