An annual appeal co-ordinated by Caerphilly County Borough Council has raised £10,820 for local foodbanks.

The appeal saw residents, Council staff, contractors, and suppliers make online cash donations.  All donated funds were distributed directly to food banks in Blackwood, Nelson, Rhymney, Caerphilly and Risca.

Companies who supported the appeal include Willis Construction, Pinnacle, Woosnam Diaries, Glanmor Developments, Cardiff Lift Company, K & B Taxi, Willmott Dixon, Creigiau Travel, Brighter Minds, Colin Laver, Cheka Safeguarding Services, Holdsworth, Getech, Roger Jones, Bradford’s Minibus, SD James, SERS, F I Walters, Millennium Building, Calibre Contracting, G Bridges, JS Lee, Gary Carpenter, Slice and Dice, Proactis, Fosse Contractors, Causeway Technologies Ltd, Foreman’s Travel, AL Landscapes, M & S Catering, Blake Morgan, Hedlyn Contractors, Deco Glass, Unite, The Urbanists, Quad Consult Ltd, Teleshore and Pickerings Lifts.

Cllr Sean Morgan, Leader of Caerphilly Council, said “The current cost of living crisis is posing significant challenges for so many people.  Foodbanks play an invaluable role in supporting some of our most vulnerable residents during times of hardship and we hope this appeal will help them buy the supplies they so desperately need, as they see demand for their services sadly increase.

“I’d like to thank everyone who, despite the current financial difficulties, donated so generously.  I would also like to thank everyone involved in co-ordinating this year’s appeal.”
