Swansea Bay Business Club has returned to its 2018 season of networking events with a business breakfast held at St Brides Spa & Hotel in Saundersfoot.

The event returned to West Wales after its there success last year. A sold out crowd heard from Chief Executive of the Port of Milford Haven, Alec Don, as he spoke to guests about the on-going multi-million pound waterfront development at the port.

During the breakfast, Alec touched on the importance of investment in the diversity of the local economy and how building up businesses that have resilient and reliable earnings at the waterfront will benefit the whole county of Pembrokeshire. He stated that their goal at the port is to help build on the prosperity of the entire town of Milford Haven so it is no longer so reliant on income from oil and gas.

Paul Gardner, President of Swansea Bay Business Club, commented:

“It was fantastic to see such a great number of guests in attendance at our first event after the summer break. The St Brides Hotel & Spa provided the perfect setting for a breakfast with Alec, where guests were able to hear all about one of the most exciting developments currently taking place in Wales and to participate in a Q&A with the man at the helm of it all.”

Over 60 guests were in attendance at the early morning event, which was the first of two of the business club’s events during September, with a lunch at the Liberty Stadium to follow at the end of the month.

Paul continued: “We can now look ahead with anticipation to our next networking lunch, where we will be joined by Chris Jones, Chief Executive of Welsh Water in Swansea’s Liberty Stadium. As the head of one of the biggest and most recognisable companies in the entirety of the country, Chris’s knowledge and business acumen is guaranteed to make for a fascinating talk and one which all of our guests will be able to learn from and relate to.”

Chris Jones has been the Chief Executive of Welsh Water since 2013 after previously spending 12 years as the company Finance Director. He will be talking to guests about his career journey that has taken him to the very top of Wales’ main water provider and discussing the plans for the short and long term future of Welsh Water.

Swansea Bay Business Club’s September lunch with Chris Jones, kindly sponsored by Lloyds Bank, will be held at the Liberty Stadium on Friday September 28.

Tickets are priced at £25 for members and £30.50 for non-members; this will include a two-course lunch. Guests are asked to arrive at 12:15pm for a 1pm lunch.

Tickets for the event will be available until midnight on Friday September 21, one week before the event.
