Bridgend & Porthcawl Fundraising Group are celebrating a milestone after raising over £100,000 for Marie Curie over since 2011
[aoa id=”1″]The close-knit group of local volunteers have campaigned tirelessly over the last 7 years, raising funds by organising various local events, which include quiz nights, fashion shows, tributes acts and their forthcoming clairvoyance evening. The group also give up their time to host various bucket collections, coordinate collection tins in the community and drive Marie Curie’s campaigns within the local areas, including the annual Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Party. The group range from 16 to 75 years old and includes a Reverend, a Marie Curie Nurse and a full time student, all of whom give up their time to help raise funds to support those living with terminal illness. All money raised by the Bridgend & Porthcawl Fundraising Group will help Marie Curie provide expert care, guidance and support to help people with a terminal illness, and their families, get the most from the time they have left.
Locally, Marie Curie Nurses work night and day, in people’s homes, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support. Marie Curie also supports people throughout their illness by giving practical information for those living with terminal illness, and their loved ones. The charity is also the leader in research into better ways of caring for people with terminal illness.

“We are thrilled to have reached £100,000 of fundraising for Marie Curie and thank all those who have supported us in the past. The people of Bridgend and Porthcawl really are generous when giving to Marie Curie and always supportive of the events and activities we organise, we really couldn’t do it without them. We have plans for more fundraising events soon, and to continue to help Marie Curie care and support people through terminal illness.
“We are always looking for anyone interested in joining the group, or anyone who can simply spare a few hours at our bucket collections.”
