Brecon Household Waste Recycling Centre reopening on Monday 11 March

The newly refurbished Brecon Household Waste Recycling Centre will reopen to the public on Monday 11 March.

The safety upgrades and refurbishment to the recycling centre on the Ffrwdgrech Industrial Estate include new, safer hardstanding across the site, upgraded drainage, and an improved one-way system with easier access and safer parking area.

Although many of the improvements to the site are not noticeable to visitors, they are essential to make sure the facility complies with legal requirements, operates safely, remains easy for visitors to use, and ensure the site continues to be fit-for-use going forward.

“We are pleased that the necessary safety upgrades and refurbishment at the Brecon Household Waste Recycling Centre are now coming to completion and that we can get the site back open to the public on 11 March.” Said Cllr Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys.

“We worked closely with Potter Group, who run the councils recycling centres, and the contractors to ensure we picked the quietest time of the year to make these improvements, however, there are always risks with planning a project such as this over the winter due to cold temperatures and inclement weather hampering construction work. This has resulted in the refurbishment taking a few weeks longer than originally planned and we thank the residents of Brecon and the surrounding areas for their patience and understanding whilst we worked hard to get the site reopened as soon as possible.”

The temporary arrangements for recycling garden waste at the old Brecon high school site in Penlan, off Cerrigcochion Road will end after Wednesday 6 March. From Monday 11 March, Brecon Household Waste Recycling Centre will reopen, as before:

    Monday: 9am – 5pm
    Tuesday: 9am – 5pm
    Wednesday: 9am – 5pm
    Thursday: Closed
    Friday: Closed
    Saturday: 10am – 4pm
    Sunday: 10am – 4pm
