A man has been jailed following an investigation into a report of non-recent rape, where the victim was sexually abused from the age of six.

Aaron Griffiths, 32, from Briton Ferry, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. The offences were reported to police a number of years after they occurred.

    Detective Inspector Chris Evans said:

“This type of offending can have a life-long impact on victims and it is vital that police pursue cases of this nature.

“It took great courage for the victim to come forward after a number of years, and they were supported by police and partner agencies throughout the process.

“The victim was strong enough to provide the evidence to help us conduct a full investigation, which has resulted in Griffiths being sentenced to 14 years in prison.

“We take all reports of rape seriously, and we urge victims to come forward to report the crime. They should feel safe in the knowledge that they will be treated with respect and dignity and that their allegation will be fully investigated.”
