Insanity, the Blackwood-based dance group, scooped fourth place at this year’s United Dance Organisation World Championships.

The group, which is made up of 14 members aged between 11-18, were one of only 18 teams worldwide to qualify for the World Championships, held at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, with 8000 dancers from across the globe in attendance, Insanity beat numerous other dance troups to reach the finals of the under 18’s category.

Insanity performed a hip hop style dance routine which placed them fourth – narrowly beaten by teams from Japan, England, and Luxembourg.

The group is sponsored by Orbis Education and Care, the sector-leading provider of specialist services for children and adults with complex needs associated with autism, in their first year of partnership which began earlier this year.

Insanity has been running for two years from Studio 54 in Blackwood which is owned by Jenna Curtis. The team is trained by head coach and Hip Hop specialist, Onyx Uwandulu.

On Insanity’s achievement, Studio 54 owner Jenna Curtis said: “The standard of the United Dance Organisation World Championships was incredibly high, so to come fourth out of thousands of other dancers worldwide is a phenomenal result!

“The team has worked so hard and has put an incredible amount of time and effort into their routines – the hard work has definitely paid off!”

Next up for Insanity is the National Entertainment Awards at the O2 in London on 17th November where they will be representing Wales, and they have also been invited to represent the UK at the awards in Las Vegas 2026.

Curtis continued: “As a small valleys dance school, the costs associated with these trips can often hugely impact our ability to take part, but with Orbis stepping in as sponsors and covering the team’s training jackets this season, we’ve had a real boost from the support and are very grateful for anything we can do to help as our relationship continues.”

Tracy O’Brien, Head of Academy Living at Orbis Education and Care, said: “We are delighted to be the sponsors of the Insanity team and support them as they continue to perform on the world stage. The group’s outstanding achievement at this World Championships is a testament to their hard work and passion for dance. Being part of this journey has been incredibly rewarding to us and we are proud to support such a talented group of dancers.”
