General entries into the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon have sold out in record speed, with all general entries filled within 12 hours of going on sale.

Registration for next year’s event opened on Wednesday 9 October and all early bird and second release tickets were snapped up in just over an hour.

Hours later, runners had also filled all available general entry places, meaning the only way to now take part in the event is through an official charity, international tour operator or via a Business Challenge package.

Next year’s race will take place on Sunday 5 October and with over 60,000 runners now on a mission to complete the SuperHalfs Series of races in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia, the Welsh capital has become one of the world’s leading destinations for sports tourism.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive of Cardiff Half’s race organiser, Run 4 Wales, said: “The demand for the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon has completely blown us away. 23,000 people pre-registered for priority access to our early bird entry sale. All 5,000 of these entries sold out within 40 minutes, followed by our second-tier release tickets, which were snapped up within an hour.

“This is the quickest all of our general entries have ever gone in Run 4 Wales’ history of organising the event and we’re so delighted at how popular the event has become within the running community.”

For those who are looking to run for a good cause, runners can secure their spot to run for the event’s lead charity, NSPCC, for £10 when pledging to raise £300.

Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research Wales and Mind are Associate Charity Partners for 2025 and are also offering a reduced entry fee among a number of benefits in return for a race space.
