Morriston will be transported back to the Victorian era for a festive celebration at the end of November.

Morriston Victorian Day 2024, a Christmas-themed event, will take place on Saturday November 23 from 10am to 3pm, with most activities free for all to enjoy.

The day will be packed with entertainment, including Santa’s grotto, a Christmas trail, a brass band, and circus workshops. Visitors can also enjoy Christmas carols, history talks, and stilt walkers dressed in Victorian costumes.

Confirmed venues hosting free activities include the Tabernacle Morriston Centre, St David’s Church, Aenon Baptist Church, Morriston Library, the Sacred Heart Centre, as well as 65 and 91 Woodfield Street. No road closures will be in place during the event.

Organised by Swansea Council, Morriston Victorian Day is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The event follows Morriston’s Christmas lights switch-on and parade, taking place the night before.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: “Morriston has a proud Victorian heritage, so this event is aimed at celebrating the town’s history while providing festive entertainment for local people and generating footfall for local businesses.

“It’s one of many projects in Swansea being funded through our allocation of the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund as we look to benefit as many communities as possible.

“The Morriston Victorian Day 2024 follows-on from the success of similar events in recent years to bring the local community and people of all ages together for a fun, family-friendly occasion.”

A detailed programme for Morriston Victorian Day 2024 will be available closer to the event as preparations continue.
