    On Friday 8th November, the Caerphilly Sports Awards celebrated outstanding individuals, clubs and organisations that have made significant contributions to sport in the borough. The event recognised volunteers, coaches, athletes, and clubs whose dedication and commitment inspire and empower local communities.

    Aaron Ramsey Foundation Young Volunteer of the Year Winner: Valleys Girls Peer Leaders
    Valleys Girls Peer Leaders of Valley Gymnastics Academy received the Young Volunteer of the Year Award, acknowledging their dedication to engaging young people in active, healthy lifestyles and creating a supportive community for youth sports.

    Welsh Sports Association Volunteer of the Year Winner: John Helmore 
    John Helmore of Ynysddu RFC was awarded Volunteer of the Year for his tireless commitment to sport in Caerphilly. John’s hard work and passion have positively impacted many lives, making a lasting difference in the local community.

    Phylyp Butler Memorial Cup Inclusive Coach of the Year Winner: Lee Meyrick
    Lee Meyrick was recognised as Inclusive Coach of the Year for his dedication to ensuring sports are accessible to all. Lee’s adaptable coaching style at Valley Taekwondo Academy has provided opportunities for participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to enjoy and excel in sport.

    Dragons RFC Community Coach of the Year Winner: Jonah Jones
    Jonah Jones received the Community Coach of the Year Award for his contributions to the local sporting community with his work at Sport Caerphilly. Jonah’s dedication has created a supportive environment where players are encouraged to develop and thrive.

    Langstone Safety and Workwear Club of the Year Winner: Caerphilly Castle FC
    Caerphilly Castle FC was awarded Club of the Year in recognition of its outstanding achievements in fostering sportsmanship, development, and community involvement.

    Caerphilly County Borough Council Lifetime Achievement to Sport Award Winners: Alison and Brian Huish, Hilary and Ken Goodger
    The Lifetime Achievement to Sport Award honoured Alison and Brian Huish and Hilary and Ken Goodger for their lifelong dedication to advancing sport in Caerphilly. The community remembers Alison’s remarkable impact, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

    Sport Wales Caerphilly Sports Personality of the Year Winner: Aaron Ramsey
    Aaron Ramsey, captain of the Welsh National Football Team, was named Caerphilly Sports Personality of the Year. Known to fans as “Rambo,” Aaron’s leadership, dedication, and skill have inspired players and supporters across Wales, making him a true local hero.

    Sport Caerphilly extends its gratitude to the local businesses that supported the Caerphilly Sport Awards, helping to make the event a memorable occasion that celebrates the dedication and achievements of volunteers, coaches, and athletes in the community.
