Nick Smith MP (Blaenau Gwent and Rhymney) and Ruth Jones MP (Newport West) visited Rhymney Library Hub to view the new facilities and find out more about the success of the hub model and how it benefits the community.

Rhymney Library Hub officially opened earlier this year after an exciting refurbishment thanks to funding from Caerphilly County Borough Council and Welsh Government’s Capital Transformation Fund.

The Rhymney Library Hub offers a new holistic support environment allowing our residents an entry point into council services. A range of council support services are available for residents to speak to including; Caerphilly Cares, the Council Tax Team, Council Benefits Team and the Employment Engagement Team.

Customers can also benefit from upgraded broadband, modern office spaces and private meeting rooms. The first floor has been developed into the ‘Idris Davies Community Learning Hub’ featuring a state-of-the-art, vibrant learning space which will become a focal point to continue supporting the Welsh Language and Culture.

The Rhymney Hub offers a ‘one stop shop’ for finding out about or using a wide range of services. These services significantly enhance the delivery of face-to-face community support, by providing a central location where customers can access holistic support based around their needs.

Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education and Communities commented, “It is fantastic that residents of the county borough are able to experience additional benefits when using Rhymney Library Hub.

The library has historically always served as a hub for the community but now with the improvements, residents are able to access several council support services.”
