The Riverfront Theatre was delighted to host over 11,500 pupils and teachers during this year’s highly anticipated school run of Dick Whittington. Across more than 25 captivating performances, young audiences filled the theatre with excitement as they joined Dick and his trusty cat on their journey to Newport in search of fame and fortune.

The response from schools has been incredibly positive, with pupils and teachers alike praising the engaging performances and interactive experience. A teacher who attended shared, “Brilliant, funny, and most of all, they got the kids involved as much as they possibly could. If you go, you will have a blast!” Another parent remarked, “My son came home with a sore throat where he shouted and laughed so much!”

Andrea Ovey, Director of Business Development at Newport Live says “Pantomime at The Riverfront is a cherished tradition that introduces many children to the magic of live theatre. As a first engagement with the arts, it inspires creativity, sparks joy and creates lasting memories. The cast approaches each performance as if there is at least one young person in the audience experiencing live theatre for the very first time and treat that moment with the magic it deserves.”

With the success of this year’s production, schools are already booking their places for next year’s pantomime, Rapunzel!

For families and schools alike, The Riverfront pantomime is a celebration of storytelling and laughter, making it an essential part of the festive season. Now, the magic continues as The Riverfront’s transitions into public performances. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this extraordinary adventure. Dick Whittington promises a classic pantomime with laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, dazzling costumes, and plenty of audience participation.

Tickets for public performances are available now and take place at 1:30pm and 5:30pm from Saturday 21 December to Saturday 4 January.  Visit www.newportlive.co.uk/dickwhittington to secure your seats and make this year’s pantomime a part of your festive traditions.
