A group of young learners from Merthyr Tydfil got the opportunity to witness Questions to the First Minister during a recent visit to the Senedd.

As part of a trip to learn more about the role of the Senedd and how our elected representatives shape the policies that effect their everyday lives, six Jobs Growth Wales+ learners spent time in Cardiff Bay.

The young people, aged between 16 and 19, from Whitehead-Ross Education’s training and development programme were also given a tour of the Senedd building, an introduction into the role of an MS, and discussed what the new electoral system in Wales will be like next year.

Brett Morgan, Operations Manager at Whitehead-Ross Education said:

“We find that a lot of young people aren’t interested in politics because they don’t understand the influence it has on shaping our everyday lives.

“At Whitehead-Ross Education we ensure that our Jobs Growth Wales+ learners gain a better understanding of the world around them and how they can play their part by understanding and voting in elections.”

The Jobs Growth Wales+ programme offers young people the chance to access a range of qualifications, work experience and support to help them to progress into further learning, apprenticeships or employment.

Georgina Payne, Youth Tutor at Whitehead Ross Education added:

“Jobs Growth Wales+ is about more than just offering young people the chance to gain qualifications and work experience, we provide support, advice and guidance to help equip our learners with the tools to develop work and life skills and build confidence.”

    Learner, Josh Davies, 18, commented:

“I really enjoyed visiting the Senedd and watching First Minister’s Questions. I feel I already know a lot more about what MSs do and how the Senedd can shape our lives.”
