Smart Towns Wales is inviting local businesses to a free event aimed at driving growth through data-driven insights about Bangor high street. The event will be held at the City Sports and Cocktail Bar, Bangor, on the 5th of March at 6 pm.

Since August 2024, Smart Towns Wales has had access to key trends, footfall patterns, and anonymised demographic profiles of visitors to high streets across Wales. The data, accessed through BT’s Active Intelligence data and Patrwm open data, includes findings such as the peak and quiet visiting times and footfall and provides insights into the age, gender and income of visitors.  These insights can help businesses better understand their audience, refine their offerings, and attract more customers to their stores or places of business.

The event will include data exclusive to the visitors and footfall of the Bangor high street. Medi Parry-Williams from Smart Towns Wales and Paul Sandham from Patrwm will present these key findings at the event and they hope they will help businesses make better-informed decisions about their products and services to attract additional footfall and grow.

Medi Parry Williams says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to gain valuable insights and make data-driven decisions that can enhance their success. Bangor high street has faced significant challenges in recent years, and businesses have felt the impact. We hope this data will help them tailor their offerings to align with their audience, attract customers, and drive footfall back to the area.”

The owner of the event’s venue, Chris O’Neal, frequently uses data from his parent company, Premier Cabs, to shape his business decisions and services: “For over 18 years, I’ve used data from my taxi company to make informed choices that drive growth. With the recent installation of AI-powered software in the Sports Bar, we can track footfall in real-time, giving us deeper insights into our customers. This technology allows us to adapt our services more effectively, ensuring we meet their needs and enhance the customer experience.”

The event will allow high street business owners to explore these findings and understand how data-driven decision-making can boost sales and customer engagement. Attendees will gain practical insights into consumer trends and have the chance to network with other businesses facing similar challenges. Whether businesses want to refine marketing strategies, adjust opening hours, or introduce new products, this event will equip them with the tools to make informed choices that drive success.

Smart Towns is keen to encourage businesses to attend the event which will include presentations, a question and answer session as well as refreshments. Booking is not required – for more information businesses can contact [email protected].
