Carlton Building Solutions Ltd, a family-run business based in Cwmcarn for over a decade, has secured £41,597.50 in UK Shared Prosperity Fund grants from Caerphilly Borough County Council.

This funding will support the purchase of a new large-capacity forklift, enhancing the company’s ability to transport shipping containers and take on additional projects.

Founded 11 years ago, Carlton Building Solutions specialises in the customisation and refurbishment of shipping containers and the construction of modular building units. The company prides itself on delivering high-quality products and services, holding accreditations from leading organisations. With a workforce of 10, Carlton Building Solutions is committed to local employment, recently hiring two new staff members through CBCC’s Employment Support Team.

The funding has come at a crucial time, enabling the company to expand its operations. Adam Sadler, Principal Business Development Officer at CBCC commented “The funding awarded to Carlton Building Solutions for the new machinery will help them grow as a company but also future proof them going forward, helping them access previously untapped opportunities. The Caerphilly Business Team is committed to supporting all businesses within the borough, which is why many companies wish to relocate here.”

Carlton Building Solutions has worked on several notable projects, including providing shipping containers for the Cardiff Bay Project and temporary classrooms for Aberdare High School. They also completed a complex move of portable buildings for the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, showcasing their expertise in the industry. Additionally, they have contributed to community efforts by supporting charities such as The Wales Air Ambulance and Maggie’s.

Owner Leigh Francis expressed gratitude for the support received during the funding application process. He said “When you get the opportunity for some much-needed funding, it usually comes with a request for a lot of information. However, the difference here was the support we received throughout the process. Angharad Williams was truly terrific in her role as Investment Support Officer, providing professional and helpful guidance”.
