Evans Halshaw has announced a £1.7 million investment to transform its Ford dealership in Cardiff into a dedicated Transit Centre, significantly expanding its commercial vehicle sales and aftersales capability for customers across South Wales.
The redevelopment will see Evans Halshaw Ford Cardiff evolve into a specialist hub for Ford commercial vehicles, while continuing to offer passenger vehicle sales through a new dual showroom format shared between passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Building work is currently underway and is expected to complete in May 2026. Services are still accessible for current Ford and Evans Halshaw customers, while the huge redevelopment project is ongoig.
As part of the transition, the business has already created five new roles at the Cardiff site and is actively recruiting for a further three positions, supporting job creation and skills development in the area.
Once complete, the site will feature a shared showroom for new Ford commercial and car vehicles, alongside an expanded external used commercial vehicle display. The new showroom environment is being created as part of the investment to enhance the customer experience across both retail and business users.
The re-development will also significantly increase aftersales capacity. Three additional commercial vehicle ramps are being installed next month, taking the total number of CV ramps on site to five. This increased capacity will enable faster turnaround times, improved workshop efficiency and the ability to support full fleet maintenance.
Evans Halshaw Ford Cardiff has also become an authorised Ford Transit Repair Centre, allowing it to undertake all Ford commercial vehicle warranty repairs. Customers can now access new and used Ford vehicle sales at the site, alongside servicing, MOTs and maintenance carried out by Ford-trained technicians.
The store is fully equipped to support Ford’s growing electrified commercial vehicle range, with three Ford Master Technicians, all of whom are EV-trained, ensuring specialist expertise across both conventional and electric powertrains.
The investment marks an important milestone for motorists and businesses in the city, with Evans Halshaw Ford Cardiff now the only Ford dealer in Cardiff, offering customers a single destination for all Ford services.
Amrit Bhogal, Head of Business at Evans Halshaw Ford Cardiff, said: “It is a proud moment to see such a major re-development of the Cardiff dealership, having worked in the Cardiff current market area for the past 26 years. It is fantastic to have commercial vehicles back on site for both sales and service, while also expanding the team to support the continued growth of the business.
There is a real sense of excitement across the site from both our colleagues and our customers as they watch the re-development progress. This investment allows us to better serve businesses across Cardiff and South Wales with improved facilities, increased capacity and specialist expertise.”
