Police are appealing for information following the discovery of a man’s body in Cardiff.

Officers were called to Radyr Weir on Monday, March 16, after reports of a body in the water. Emergency services attended and recovered the body, which was later confirmed to be that of 40-year-old Matthew Comins, from Gilfach Goch.

South Wales Police said that the circumstances surrounding his death remain unexplained.

The last confirmed sighting of Matthew was at around 2pm on Friday, February 27, 2026, near Hopkinstown Road in Pontypridd. Officers say there is a period of more than two weeks where his movements are unknown.

Police are now urging anyone who may have seen Matthew, or had any contact with him between February 27 and March 16, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting reference 2600081337.

Information can be provided online via https://bit.ly/SWPProvideInfo or by calling 101. In an emergency, always dial 999. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
