Visitors to St Fagans National Museum of History will soon see changes to how parking is managed, as a new automatic number plate recognition system is rolled out across the site.
The system, which will be managed by First Parking, will allow visitors to pay for parking using the RingGo app, alongside existing payment machines located in the museum’s car parks.
Importantly, parking tariffs will remain unchanged, and parking will continue to be free for Blue Badge holders.
The change will be introduced in two stages. New signage will begin appearing across the site, with the full ANPR system going live at a later date, following a delay.
The update will also bring changes for season pass holders. Visitors will no longer need to display a physical pass when parking. Instead, the registration number of the vehicle linked to the pass will be uploaded to the system, allowing cameras to automatically recognise vehicles with valid parking.
Physical passes will no longer be valid, and no new ones will be issued going forward. As per existing terms, each season pass will continue to cover one registered vehicle for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Once the system is in place, visitors with a valid season pass will simply be able to drive in and park as usual, with the system handling the rest.
The move is aimed at streamlining the parking process for visitors while maintaining the same pricing structure already in place.
