Free open air cinema screenings are returning to Newport city centre this August, with four popular films set to be shown over four evenings.
Newport City Council has confirmed that the screenings will take place from 10 to 13 August on the site of the former leisure centre near Kingsway Car Park and Usk Way.
The outdoor cinema festival returns after proving a popular attraction last year, with audiences once again invited to enjoy a series of free evening screenings.
Councillor James Clarke, cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring Wonder Cinema into the city centre again this year to provide this summer treat. The outdoor festival proved a huge hit last year and I’m sure it will again this year.”
Gates will open at 7pm each evening, with the films starting at sunset.
This year’s programme includes:
- 10 August: Grease
- 11 August: The Greatest Showman
- 12 August: Instant Family
- 13 August: Wicked 2
Further details, including screening times and booking information, are available on the Wonder Cinema website.
Audience members are advised to bring their own chairs and dress appropriately for the weather. Refreshments will be available to purchase on site, although visitors are also welcome to bring their own food and drinks.
