A Pembrokeshire-produced sorbet has been crowned the winner of the Great Taste Golden Fork from Wales for 2026, recognising it as the finest Welsh product among this year’s top Great Taste Award winners.

Selected from the eight Welsh products awarded the coveted 3-star rating in the Great Taste Awards 2026, the Golden Fork from Wales was awarded to Fire and Ice for its Passion Fruit Sorbet at an event held in London last night.

Fire and Ice, based in Narberth, Pembrokeshire, has been crafting award-winning artisan gelato and sorbet since 2011. The family-run business has earned a reputation for pushing flavour boundaries through its innovative sorbet creations while championing high-quality Welsh ingredients.

Fire and Ice has won 14 Great Taste Awards since 2013, including a prestigious 3-star award for its Blackcurrant Sorbet in 2018. Its latest success, Passion Fruit Sorbet, secured the Great Taste Golden Fork from Wales after impressing judges with its bold flavour, balance and quality.

Ivan Wilson, Owner of Fire and Ice said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been named the winner of the Great Taste Golden Fork from Wales. To receive this recognition from such a respected judging panel is an incredible honour and a proud moment for us.

“Our premium artisan Passion Fruit Sorbet was created through an experimental approach to product development, with a focus on delivering bold, authentic flavour while creating a less sweet sorbet that offers a truly memorable eating experience.

“To represent Wales on this stage and be recognised alongside so many outstanding producers is truly special.”

Sponsored by Food & Drink Wales, the Great Taste Golden Fork from Wales celebrates the very best food and drink products produced in Wales. The award is reserved for products that have first achieved the highest possible 3-star Great Taste Award, placing them among the most exceptional food and drink products judged by the Guild of Fine Food.

The award follows another successful year for Welsh producers at the Great Taste Awards, with 166 products from Wales receiving recognition, including eight products awarded the coveted 3-star rating.

Congratulating Fire and Ice, the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability Llyr Gruffydd MS said:

“Congratulations to Fire and Ice on their achievement in the Great Taste awards. It is very encouraging to see established, family run companies doing so well and being recognised for the hard work, innovation and commitment that goes into producing food and drink of the highest quality.

“As we look ahead to our new National Food Strategy, we are taking a whole-system approach that brings together everyone involved in feeding Wales, from producer to plate. Successes such as this showcase the exceptional food and drink we produce and the talented people behind it, while helping to create further opportunities for Welsh businesses to grow and flourish.

“The awards are an important showcase of quality, innovation and outstanding taste from Welsh companies. They should be very proud and I wish them the very best for the future.”
