Local music lovers are invited to discover two of Newport’s most exciting emerging artists when The Riverfront Jazz Club returns on Friday 9 October with a headline performance from Newport artist Ogun, supported by talented young saxophonist George Siddall.
Held in The Riverfront’s studio space, the monthly Jazz Club showcases some of the region’s best emerging talent across jazz, soul, funk, R&B and jazz-inspired music. Audiences can enjoy an evening of live music in a relaxed setting while supporting the next generation of local performers.
Born and based in Newport, Ogun has built a reputation for creating music that refuses to be confined by genre. Drawing inspiration from Hip-Hop, UK Rap and Jazz Rap, his sound combines thoughtful lyricism, intricate rhythms and memorable hooks with a strong sense of personal identity. His work explores both the world around him and his own inner experiences, resulting in music that is reflective, confident and continually evolving.
Supporting Ogun is George Siddall, a 16-year-old saxophonist whose music blends jazz, soul, funk and blues influences into an energetic contemporary sound. Since beginning to create original music in 2024, Siddall has developed an impressive body of work and recently released his debut album, On The Moon, continuing to establish himself as one of Newport’s most promising young musicians.
The event highlights the strength of Newport’s growing music scene, bringing together artists at different stages of their careers while celebrating the wealth of creative talent emerging from the city. Both performers represent the exciting future of local music and demonstrate why The Riverfront Jazz Club has become a platform for discovering exceptional new artists.
The concert starts at 8pm at The Riverfront, Newport. Tickets cost £14 and are available from the Box Office on 01633 656757.
