Drivers across South Wales are dealing with rush-hour congestion this morning, while overnight roadworks continue on key routes into the week.

Traffic Wales South reported queues on the M4 eastbound between junction 26 at Malpas and junction 23A at Magor.

Around Cardiff, traffic is building on the A470 southbound from Nantgarw to Coryton, and at the northbound Nantgarw off-slip. There are also delays on the M4 eastbound off-slip at junction 33 Capel Llanilltern, and both ways on the A4232 between Culverhouse Cross and Capel Llanilltern.

Further west, the M4 between junction 45 Ynysforgan and junction 46 Llangyfelach has reopened in both directions after overnight disruption, though drivers are still being told to allow extra time.

Looking ahead, overnight works are planned on two major routes. On the A470 southbound between Upperboat and Nantgarw, lane 1 including the Nantgarw off-slip will close from 7pm tonight until 3am tomorrow for cyclic maintenance, with a diversion in place.

On the M4, the westbound Coldra exit slip at junction 24 will close overnight from 8pm to 6am between 5 and 9 October for survey work. Eastbound, entry slips at junctions 24 and 23A on the stretch towards the Prince of Wales Bridge will also close in the same overnight window, with diversions signed.
