South Wales Police is investigating an RTC between a black Audi and a cyclist that occurred on Friday 1st March 2019 at approximately 15.50 hours.

The collision occurred on the B4295 near LLanrhidian primary school and resulted in the rider of the bicycle, Mr Peter Webb, sustaining injuries and being taken to the University Hospital of Wales via air ambulance.

Tragically, on Thursday 7th March 2019, Mr Webb passed away whilst at the hospital receiving treatment for those injuries.

Peter, aged 67 and from the Penclawdd area, is survived by his father ‘Des’, his sister Vivian, and his wife Marie Webb. Peter and Marie have three children, Lyndsey, Mark and Samuel, they also have five loving grandchildren whom he so loved to look after and play with. Peter loved sport and would spend his time with his grandchildren in developing their enthusiasm for whatever sport they would choose to take part in.

Peter worked as an inspection engineer working around the globe for many employers such as The British Steel Company at the Trostre works site, Shell petrol and many other petroleum-based companies.

He lived and loved life to the full, looking after his family, growing vegetables in his garden and spending much of his time training for triathlons and taking part in Iron Man competitions. He will be sorely missed by his family and all his friends.

    His family have said,
“Peter’s hard work and dedication to his family was a true reflection to the kind man that he was.”

His wife and children would particularly like to thank the witnesses at the collision, the paramedics, police and air ambulance staff who all played a part in looking after his care. They would also like to thank the staff at UHW in Cardiff for their treatment over his last days.

South Wales Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or Peter on his bicycle before the incident, to make contact with them on telephone number 101 and quote occurrence reference number 1900076110.
