Chepstow based PR and content agency, Cohesive Communications is calling on local people to take part in ‘Wye Walk’, a fundraising walk to help Welsh charity Llamau tackle homelessness.

The charity provides holistic support, including safe accommodation, domestic abuse refuge and mental health support, to help vulnerable women, young people and children to leave homelessness behind, for good.

“We have recently announced our partnership with Llamau and the Wye Walk is our first big community fundraiser of the year”, Cohesive co-CEO Andy Williams explained.

“Llamau’s motto is ‘never to give up on anyone’ and that strikes a chord with us. Cohesive actively embraces impact businesses, sharing the stories of organisations who, like us, value people, planet and profit in equal measure.”

Homelessness figures are rising in Wales and charities are taking that strain. Last year, Llamau supported over 8,000 women, young people and children to leave homelessness behind. “To continue doing this crucial work, they need support,” continued Williams.

“Llamau is thrilled to be working with Cohesive, an ethical business that puts purpose at the heart of what it does,” said Fiona Hawthorn, corporate & community fundraiser at Llamau.
“We love their plans to fundraise within the community, which will help to raise our profile as well as raising vital funds to support our mission to end homelessness for young people and vulnerable women. Last year, we supported 8914 young people, and we are so grateful to be working with Cohesive to ensure that we can meet the growing need for our services.”

Cohesive is launching its partnership with the charity with ‘Wye Walk for Llamau’, a family-friendly walk aimed at people of all ages and abilities. “We’re hoping to make a real difference through fundraising with events like Wye Walk for Llamau, which will be a great opportunity for local people to come together, enjoy the beautiful countryside, and do something positive for this pioneering Welsh charity,” explained Williams.

Wye Walk for Llamau will take place at 10.30am on Saturday 11th May, and will take walkers around the historic Piercefield Walk in Chepstow, trodden by artists and poets since 1760. Starting at Chepstow Leisure Centre, there are two routes: easy and moderate, taking in the Piercefield House ruins and woodland above the Wye Valley river.
