The IAD Company is the winner of this year’s Project of the Year Refurbishment title at the Design in Mental Health Awards.

The Wales-based architectural consultants took the award at the 2019 event held at Ricoh Arena in Coventry this week (May 21st).

The Cardiff company claimed the award in recognition of its work transforming an 800-year-old barn complex in West Wales into a forever home for adults with a diagnosis of autism.

    Ty Carreg transformation

Ty Carreg is now a flagship residential care facility for adults with autism based on the South Wales coastline after IAD was tasked with creating a beautiful yet practical home for 12 residents with additional needs.

[aoa id=”1″]Rebecca Lewis-Chapman, Director at IAD Company, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to have been recognised with this award and I’m delighted to have accepted it on behalf of the wider IAD team, but also the Ty Carreg residents that have benefitted as a result of the project at hand.[/aoa]

“Ty Carreg is a genuinely unique development respectfully transformed from an 800-year-old site into a state-of-the-art, functional home, where residents and those supporting them up to 24 hours daily are benefitting from an environment of serenity and peace, where once were ruins – that is the true reward for us as architectural consultants and designers.”

The IAD Company is an experienced provider of architectural and interior design solutions in a range of commercial, hospitality, healthcare, educational and domestic settings.

Active in the construction industry for over two decades, the company provides architectural consultant, interior design and project management services for a wide variety of clients.

Rebecca said: “To have our efforts recognised on a national scale and in the presence of industry colleagues that we hold in such high esteem really is a great honour.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to be named as a winner by the Design in Mental Health Awards 2019 and is truly appreciated by the whole team here at The IAD Company.”
